Oh What a Night!

If there were any question as to who this little boy would take after personality wise, there shouldn't be anymore. Buxton slept straight through the night last night. The kid is not yet a week old! We woke him up to feed him a time or two, but he just slept like a champ. He did almost as well three nights ago, though the night before last we were not as fortunate.

Now I am not so presumptuous to think this will happen every night, but each day he shows a little more of his dad. Sleeping, eating and sleeping again. Living the dream.

We're home

Thanks for all the thoughts, well wishes and replies. We came home this morning, and everything is "just about perfect" according to the doctors. He is starting to eat better, which was our only concern. He also had two (minor, so say the doctors) surgeries in the past two days. One of the male persuasion and another to clip his tongue leaving only his dad with a deformed licker. We are all doing well, and somehow Anna even figured out how to get a nap in. Thanks again.

Buxton Thomas Marks

So I wasn't just being a jerk. Major network issues at the hospital kept me from posting any of the 8,000 pictures we took yesterday. But here are a few favorites. And, for anyone still wondering, the little fella is Buxton Thomas Marks. He was born at 7 pounds, 2 ounces and 19.5 inches. Both parents are doing fine, and we should be headed home some time tomorrow. We are in room 16 at CMC Pineville, with visiting hours ending at 8 p.m. We love you all.

He's Here!

He arrived at 10:46 a.m. We dialated and we pushed and at 10:46 a.m, he arrived. All 7 pounds 2 ounces and 19.5 inches of him. He's here, and he's spectacular!

The Glory of Drugs

The epidural went in at 4:50. I want an epidural. Anna went from quite a bit of sustained pain to loving life, cracking jokes and it looks like she may even get a bit of a nap in. The nurse said we will start the Pitocin at 6 a.m. Right now Anna measures about 2 or 3 centimeters, and with the Pitocin she should gain a centimeter every hour or so. The nurse said we should start pushing in 6 hours or so. Stay tuned.

It's Go Time People!

We're at the hospital. Water broke just before 11 p.m. Sunday night. More on that in several months. Everything is fine, and the contractions are coming. Anna is just now beginning to feel them, slightly. We're utilizing the cable. Stay tuned.

Letter of the Day

As promised, today brings the first letter of the day. Each day between today and the day the boy is born, you get one letter. And today's letter is...R.

D-Day

Well, D-Day is here. Aug. 2. 40 weeks. The baby is now officially due.

In response, we will post one letter from the baby's name for each day that he is past due, beginning with tomorrow. Of course he still may come tonight, in which case the entire name would come sooner. Speaking of which, there are discussions of having a live blog from inside the maternity ward, so stay tuned. We'll be back with more later.
